Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Fakeout Kitchen collects, why, and your choices. We keep data collection to what the site actually needs — there are no third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
What we collect
- Email address — when you create an account (we sign you in with a one-time magic link, so we never store a password) and/or subscribe to the newsletter.
- Display name — optional, only if you choose to set one as a recipe author.
- Recipe submissions — the recipe content, your name, and an optional link back to your site. The email you submit with is kept private and is never shown publicly.
- Community activity — the recipes you favorite, save, or mark as “made it,” and any photo you attach to a “made it.”
- Signup source — a short tag (e.g. which page you subscribed from) so we can understand what's useful. No cross-site tracking.
- Standard server logs — our host (Cloudflare) processes request data such as IP address for security and to deliver the site.
How we use it
To sign you in, send the newsletter you asked for, run community features (favorites, saved recipes, your recipe book), publish submissions you send us, and keep the site secure and working. We do not sell your data.
Cookies
We set a single signed session cookie when you sign in, so the site remembers you. That's it — no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Email & the newsletter
The newsletter is double opt-in: after you sign up we email you a confirmation link, and you're only added once you click it. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Fakeout Kitchen, and share only what each needs:
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, and email routing.
- Resend — to deliver sign-in and newsletter emails.
- Amazon — where we link to pantry products, those may be affiliate links. We disclose this on the page.
Your choices & rights
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data — email us and we'll help.
Children
Fakeout Kitchen is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy we'll change the date above. Material changes will be made clear on the site.
