1. Filter by Cuisine and Meal Type
The homepage has two rows of filter chips at the top — Cuisine and Meal type.
- Pick a cuisine (Serbian, Italian, Chinese, etc.) to see only that cuisine's recipes. All other cuisines collapse out of the way, and the meal-type counts update to reflect only that cuisine.
- Then narrow by meal type (Soup, Main, Salad, Dessert, etc.) to zero in on exactly what you want to cook.
- Click All in either row to reset and see everything again.
- You can also type in the search bar to find a recipe by ingredient or dish name — it works alongside the filters.
2. Reading a Recipe Page
Each recipe page is laid out in cooking order:
- Hero image — the dish photo at the top. Community photos with the most votes automatically replace the default image.
- Facts bar — cuisine, course, prep time, cook time, and servings at a glance.
- Ingredients — the full ingredient list.
- Clean Swaps — ingredient upgrades with better sourcing (tap any card for the detail and an optional shop link).
- Dish photo — a second look at the finished dish, just above the step-by-step instructions.
- Instructions — the numbered steps.
- FAQ — common questions answered for that specific recipe.
3. Saving and Tracking Recipes
- Save to My Recipes — bookmarks a recipe to your account so you can find it later in My Recipes.
- Favorite (♥) — adds your vote to the community count. Recipes with more votes appear higher in Neighborhood Favorites.
- I cooked this — marks the recipe as made. The count shows how many cooks have tried it.
- All three require a free account — sign in or create one here.
4. Uploading Your Photos
Want your photo to look great before you upload it? Read Shoot Your Food With Just Your Phone — golden hour light, no special gear, five minutes of setup.
At the bottom of every recipe page there is a Reader photos section. Tap Choose a photo, pick a JPEG or PNG from your phone or computer, and hit Share my photo. Photos are downscaled automatically in your browser before upload.
The community votes on photos. The top-voted photo (once it has at least one vote) automatically becomes the hero image at the top of that recipe page — no reload needed.
You need to be signed in to upload a photo.
5. Serbian Recipes — Bilingual Toggle
Serbian recipes have a language toggle at the top of the hero panel — English / Српски. Tap it to switch the title, summary, ingredients, instructions, and FAQ between English and Serbian Cyrillic. The toggle works on every element of the recipe simultaneously.
6. The Pantry and My Kitchen
The Pantry is a glossary of clean pantry staples worth stocking. My Kitchen is your personal tracker — add ingredients you have on hand and the site remembers them across visits.
